The history of the saunas
is a very old one. Already long time ago people bathed
in rooms in which they also had hot stones which were
sprinkled with water again and again.
Already then people knew about the wellness effects
of warmth and steam.
The temperatures of 60° C to 90° C are typical
for the Sauna so that we are able to keep the air dry
which is necessary that our sweat can evaporate. This
evaporation cools your body and ensures that the skin
does not get too hot. A speciality offered is the "Saunaaufguss"
(pouring of water onto the hot stones to create steam)
which creates an additional heat attraction.
However this does not last for long and you have to cool
down your boday abruptly. In the alpine residence Ballunspitze
the starry grotto is the best place to enjoy the "Aufguss"
This repeated sequence of heating and cooling down is
called "Saunagang". You have to repeat this
at least once!
