All-in-one: "White Worlds" winter hiking trail
The “White Worlds” winter hiking trail combines easy routes with moderately difficult stages and is ideal for anyone who wants to experience the alpine winter landscape in peace and quiet on a winter hike to Galtür. There are three sections to the Kopsstausee – with impressive views, beautiful natural highlights and plenty of places to stop for refreshments.
Stage 1 – for nature-loving winter hikers
From the valley station of the Medrijochbahn cable car in See, this nature-rich stage leads via the quiet hamlet of Oberhaus into the Kappl ski area. Cosy huts invite you to take a break along the way. A special highlight, especially for children, is the mountain station of the Diasbahn cable car: from here, you can either take the Snooc (sit-ski) or the gondola back down to the valley in comfort. By the way: Kappl is also a popular hotspot for sledging in Paznaun and offers a variety of options for winter fans of all ages.

Stage 2 – panoramic tour
The second stage of this winter hiking trail through Galtür combines winter hiking with a fantastic excursion destination in the Paznaun Valley! The trail starts at the Diashbahn valley station in Kappl. The trail leads through snow-covered villages, past fluffy alpacas and traditional wooden barns to the Niederle district in Kappl. From there, you continue by bus to Ischgl, where you follow the well-signposted winter hiking trail to the Silvretta thermal spa. The route then leads through Mathon to the Silvretta Wildlife Park, which offers exciting insights into the local wildlife. After a short stop at the ibex, red deer & Co, this winter hiking trail leads on towards Galtür-Dorf – the destination of this varied stage.
Tip: The medium-difficulty Dias snowshoe trail leads along a similar route through the secluded winter landscape, away from the Kappl ski area.

Stage 3 – mountain scenery with a view of the lake
The third section through Zeinis in particular is one of the most beautiful winter hiking trails in Paznaun and can be started directly from Galtür-Dorf. Along the way, several restaurants invite you to stop, feast and warm up and the beautiful landscape all around invites you to pause and admire.
One particular highlight on this trail is Lake Zeinissee, which is at its quietest and most mysterious in winter. The directly adjacent Kopsstausee finally marks the end of this idyllic winter hike through Galtür.

Challenging winter hike in Galtür
This demanding winter hike through Galtür is ideal for experienced winter hikers who are looking for a challenge and tranquillity. Similar to the “White Worlds” route, but much more demanding, it rewards you with spectacular views of the Silvretta group and a snow-covered, almost mystical winter landscape. The route starts directly in Wirl, near the St. Antonius chapel, and leads steadily uphill along the old Zeinis road to the Zeinis and Kops reservoirs. However, there are no refreshment stops on this tour, nor is there a bus connection to take a shortcut – but there is absolute peace and quiet, unspoilt nature far away from the hustle and bustle and a panorama that you can hardly get enough of.
Tip: Guests of the Alpenresidenz Ballunspitze benefit from the direct bus connection to Wirl and can start the tour practically from the hotel doorstep.
